There are a group of uninhabited rocks in the south of China. Depending on whom you ask, you will get a different address — for exactly the same piece of rock!

An official from the Chinese Embassy: “中华人民共和国海南省三沙市.” Zhonghua Renmin Gongheguo, Hainan Sheng, Sansha Shi = City of Sansha, Province of Hainan, People’s Republic of China.

An official from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office: “中华民国高雄市旗津区中兴里.” Zhonghua Minguo, Gaoxiong Shi, Qijin Qu, Zhongxing Li = Zhongxing neighbourhood, Qijin district, City of Gaoxiong, Republic of China.

An official from the Vietnamese Embassy: Huyen dao Truong Sa, Tinh Khanh Hoa (县岛长沙省庆和 in Vietnamese order; 庆和省长沙岛县 = Qinghe Sheng Changsha Dao Xian in Chinese order) = Truong Sa Islands County, Province of Khanh Hoa, Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Additionally, the islands are claimed by the Philippines (as part of Bayan ng Kalayaan, Lalawigan ng Palawan) and by Malaysia (as part of Sabah).
